Girls basketball: Lake Worth-Boca Raton tops regional semifinal schedule

Only two games separate six Palm Beach County teams from the state playoffs in Lakeland.

Boca Raton, Lake Worth, Suncoast, Cardinal Newman, Benjamin and Grandview Prep survived last week’s regional quarterfinals and earned the right to play Tuesday. All games are Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Football: ‘South Beach Tow’ star named first Florida female head football coach

Miami-Jackson’s football program made history Monday when it named Lakatriona “Bernice” Brunson as the school’s new football coach, as first reported by Peter Ariz. She is the first female head football coach in Florida history.

Brunson was a driver and assistant manager of Tremont Towing, which was featured in the truTV show “South Beach Tow.”

Brunson was an athlete at Miami Northwestern, where she threw discus and shot put and played basketball. She also played basketball at Tennessee State and football for the Miami Fury of the Independent Women’s Football League. She is currently a physical education teacher at Jackson.

Boys soccer: Three teams make it to regional finals

The state playoffs are only a game away for three Palm Beach County soccer teams.

Boca Raton, Benjamin and Trinity Christian all won their regional semis matchup on Tuesday and are now one game away from the state playoffs.

The three games are on Friday at 7 p.m. Here are the match ups:

Class 5A:

The district tournaments have all wrapped up and 16 Palm Beach County teams have made it to the regional playoffs.

The 16 teams square off in 14 games that will all start at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
