Despite losing 20 starters from last season’s team, Dwyer is entering the year with high expectations.
The Panthers are the highest rated area team in the Associated Press preseason state football rankings, which was released Wednesday. Dwyer comes in at No. 2 in the Class 7A poll after winning the state title in 2013. The only team ranked ahead of the Panthers is Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas. [More]

After having to miss spring practice and the start of fall practice, Dwyer senior athlete Erick Hardnett is back on the football field.
Hardnett was cleared to play football on Friday and went through his third practice with the Panthers on Monday, according to coach Jack Daniels. He is expected to play in Dwyer’s kickoff classic against Plantation-American Heritage on Sunday, which will be televised on ESPN. [More]

Florida Atlantic already received a verbal commitment from one of Palm Beach County’s top 2015 prospects in May. This week, the Owls received three more.
Seminole Ridge defensive back Jalen Young verbally committed to FAU, choosing the Owls over schools like Miami, Boston College and Louisville on Thursday night. Palm Beach Gardens athlete J’Quan Napier followed Young’s lead and verbally committed to FAU on Friday morning.
Young and Napier join Seminole Ridge running back Kerrith Whyte, who verbally committed to the Owls on Monday.
The trio is now part of FAU’s 2015 recruiting class, along with three-star Dwyer quarterback Daniel Parr. Parr [More]

Palm Beach Gardens linebacker Tevon Coney is giving another school a shot.
Along with Notre Dame and Florida, Coney added Miami to his list of favorite schools. Coney (6-2, 220) said he hopes to verbally commit to a school in September.
“They’re all equal right now,” Coney said of the three schools.
