Baseball: Boca Raton, Park Vista among state’s best; Benjamin returns to Class 3A rankings

Last week, Boca Raton made its first appearance in the state poll that considers teams from all classifications. This week, the Bobcats moved up five spots on that list.

In the sixth edition of the Theprepzone.com state baseball poll released Tuesday, Boca jumped to No. 3 in the All-Classifications poll. Park Vista is the only Palm Beach County team ahead of the Bobcats, as the Cobras stayed at No. 2. [More]

2015 High school football schedules for Palm Beach County

The countdown is on.

We’re less than one month away from the start of spring football practice and less than five months from the start of the high school football regular season.

While we wait for those big dates, the Palm Beach Post obtained a copy of the finalized high school football schedules sent to local coaches Tuesday. These schedules include each team that’s considered to be a part of the Palm Beach County Conference, which leaves out the majority of private schools.

Boca Raton baseball team joins Park Vista in national poll

Not all losses are bad losses.

Boca Raton has learned that, as the Bobcats made their first appearance in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings on Tuesday. Despite falling to nationally ranked Park Vista for the second time this season last week, Boca cracked the list at No. 13.

The Bobcats join Park Vista in the rankings with the Cobras staying at No. 3. Both teams are part of District 10-8A, which should make for an interesting district tournament. [More]

Track and Field: Season’s first Honor Roll

The area’s best will gather to compete in the 58th annual Palm Beach County Track and Field Championships on Wednesday at Dwyer High.

While you’re waiting, here’s the county‚Äôs best boys and girls track and field performances of the season.

If you plan on attending the county championships, field events are scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. and seeded finals for the running events are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Dwyer.

Steve Walsh to leave Cardinal Newman for Director of Football position at IMG Academy

It’s no secret that Steve Walsh has high aspirations for himself.

Walsh interviewed for the Cleveland Browns open quarterbacks coach position in January, but he didn’t get the job. However, he has found a new home at Bradenton-IMG Academy.

After six seasons as the head football coach at Cardinal Newman, Walsh was named the Director of Football at IMG Academy on Monday. [More]

Park Vista is living up to expectations.

The Cobras entered the season with high expectations and they have met them so far. Park Vista hasn’t dropped a game since falling to Coral-Springs-Taravella in the season opener. Since then, the Cobras have outscored opponents by a combined score of 103-22 to stay at No. 1.

Flag football: Seminole Ridge ranked No. 2 in inaugural state poll
