Former Pahokee standout arrested

By Jason Lieser

Jacoby Love, a former Pahokee football player, was arrested earlier this month in connection with a non-fatal shooting.

Blue Devils coach Blaze Thompson said Love remains incarcerated.

“He made a bad choice,” Thompson said. “He needs to know that he made a mistake, but we still want to be there for him and help him in any way we can.”

Love signed as a defensive tackle with Western Michigan in 2007, but left the team for undisclosed personal reasons, a spokesman for the university’s athletic department said.

He was arrested in Pahokee, and charged with aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $10,000.
