Gators grab Bostic

By Jason Lieser

Palm Beach Central linebacker Jon Bostic finally announced his college decision and he will play for the Florida Gators.

Bostic made his choice public during the second quarter NBC’s broadcast of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday.

“It’s going to be Florida,” Bostic told the national television audience.

Bostic stood with his family and Palm Beach Central coach Rod Harris, and picked up a Florida hat, leaving Florida State and LSU hats on the table.

Bostic, 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, had 55 tackles, four forced fumbles and had a hand in 11 touchdowns for the Broncos last season. He is the top-rated senior prospect in the county and received at least 30 scholarship offers.

He already graduated from Palm Beach Central and will report to Gainesville for spring practices.

His finalists were Miami, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Clemson. He also was recruited by USC, South Carolina and Tennessee among others.

Earlier this week, Bostic’s former teammate Patrick O’Donnell, a kicker, committed to play for Cincinnati.

Florida coach Urban Meyer and his staff have had a good year in Palm Beach County, drawing early commitments from Pahokee senior Nu’Keese Richardson and Dwyer junior Matt Elam.
