Jupiter’s Jones out of Outback after arrest

By Jason Lieser

Ethan Jones, a senior running back for Jupiter, was removed from the Outback Bowl roster after his December arrest for robbery.

The Jupiter Police Department booked Jones, 18, on Christmas Eve and charged him with robbery without a firearm or weapon. He currently is on house arrest.

Jupiter athletic director Michael DeLeonardo said the school is aware of the incident but he had no comment. Football coach Charlie Persson did not return phone messages Friday.

Records indicate Jupiter police also arrested Jones on a carjacking charge, without a firearm or weapon, July 26.

Jones originally was selected to play for the American squad in Saturday’s Outback Bowl, an all-star game at John I. Leonard. Jupiter Christian coach Bill Powers, who is coaching the American team, had no comment.
