Suncoast’s Grant Sickle commits to Harvard

By Jason Lieser

Suncoast defensive lineman Grant Sickle made perhaps the most impressive football commitment in this area. He will be a Harvard man.
Sickle (6-5, 230) had 85 tackles this season. Twenty of those were for negative yardage, including five sacks.

“Harvard is one of the top programs in the Ivy League,” Chargers coach G. Alan Williams said. “Not all of us are going to be blessed enough to go to the NFL, so you have to put yourself in position to succeed after football. We talked about it and we decided to go for it and shoot for Harvard.”

Williams also said offensive lineman Nate Jones is committed to Southeast Missouri State, and two other players could sign scholarships next Wednesday. Offensive lineman Cartier Scott is deciding between Lafayette and Fordham, and Alfred Fields III is likely to play for Army. Other players could sign scholarships later in the signing period, including electric all-purpose athlete Tony McQuay.
