Thompson leaning toward Hofstra, coach says

By Jason Lieser

Palm Beach Lakes defensive tackle Navarus Thompson has narrowed his college choices to Hofstra and Arkansas State.

Thompson just got back from a recruiting visit to Hofstra, which already has a verbal commitment from Royal Palm Beach defensive back Jordan Dangerfield, and Palm Beach Lakes coach Alonzo Jefferson believes the trip made a big impact. Thompson has not made a verbal commitment, but Jefferson believes he will pick Hofstra.

“I think he might have had a better visit there,” Jefferson said. “Plus, he and (Dangerfield) are pretty good friends.”

Thompson (6-0, 260) is rated the No. 19 recruit in this area. If he and Dangefield both sign with Hofstra, it would give the Pride two of the area’s top 25 prospects. Other schools recruiting Thompson include Florida Atlatnic, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
