Southern Miss first to offer QB Eddie Sullivan

By Jason Lieser

Boca Raton quarterback Eddie Sullivan put up prodigious numbers as a junior last season, but still was worried about colleges noticing him. That fear has been eased now that he has his first offer, courtesy of Southern Miss.

“I was really excited when I saw it in the mail,” Sullivan said. “I was in disbelief.”

There likely will be more offers headed Sullivan’s way.

Thanks to a strategic diet and a demanding workout regiment, he is up to 6-foot-1 1/2, 195 pounds. He was second-team all-area last year and has drawn interest from Tennessee, Auburn, North Carolina State, West Virginia and Georgia — where former Boca Raton quarterback Mark Richt is head coach.

Sullivan racked up 2,003 passing yards and threw 26 touchdown passes while leading the Bobcats to the playoffs last season. It was his first year with the team after transferring from Park Vista. That switch remains under investigation by the FHSAA after Park Vista accused Boca Raton of recruiting him.
