Tulsa likes Fort Pierce Central tandem

By Jason Lieser

Fort Pierce Central quarterback Tim Smith and wide receiver Jabari Cargill might emerge as a strong passing combination this year. After that, they could be taking the show to Tulsa.

Tulsa offered scholarships to both players, Cobras coach Chris Hutchings said. Other schools that have expressed interest in the duo include Wisconsin, Louisville, Utah, Central Florida, Iowa State and Illinois State.

Smith and Cargill will be seniors this fall, and it is impressive they were able to get this kind of attention on a Fort Pierce Central team that only won two games last year.

Smith (6-2, 185) completed 92 of 153 passes (60.1 percent) last year for 1,043 yards. He connected on six touchdown passes and threw seven interceptions, and also rushed for more than 500 yards.

Cargill (6-2, 180) caught 35 passes for 486 yards and three touchdowns.
