King’s sets school record with six football signings

By Jason Lieser

No senior class at King’s Academy ever produced six college football players until this year.

Nose tackle Alex Hardrick was the latest Lion to sign with a college, choosing Webber International.

The big-name signings at King’s Academy were linebacker Toney Moore going to Florida Atlantic and fullback Lee Bussey picking Air Force. The Lions also sent receiver Mark Fereg to North Greenville, linebacker Tyler Toulson to Belhaven and RB/WR Dallas Herrmann to Gardner-Webb.

“I’m pretty excited about that,” King’s Academy football coach Craig Dobson said. “For years, nobody ever took King’s seriously for football, with the exception of ’96 when Heath Evans was here putting on a show. Now, we’re starting to gain some credibility.”
