Antwon Chisholm suspended for spring game

Glades Central running back Antwon Chisholm, who was arrested at the Mall at Wellington Green last month, will not play in the Raiders’ spring game.

Chisholm, the team’s star running back and one of the area’s top football recruits, pulled a knife on a security guard, according to the police, during a group altercation at the mall over spring break.

Raiders coach Jessie Hester said it was a rare lapse of judgment for an otherwise well-behaved kid, and believes Chisholm will learn his lesson from this situation.

“I’ve spoken with him and he explained what happened,” Hester said. “He could have handled a lot of stuff differently.

“For the most part, this is an exceptional kid. He’s almost never been in trouble. He just got caught up in the wrong situation.”

The Raiders are scheduled to play Miami Central on May 29.

Chisholm (5-8, 170) has offers from several schools, including Georgia, West Virginia and Rutgers, and is widely considered Glades Central’s most talented overall player heading into his senior season.

He also played point guard for the basketball team last season and finished second among area big-school players with 8.4 assists per game.
