Dwyer to name football field after former A.D. Rick Hubbard

Shortly after the passing of popular Dwyer athletic director Rick Hubbard, school officials decided he needed a proper, permanent memorial at the school.

At halftime of this year’s Oct. 2 game against Atlantic, the school will officially rename its field after Hubbard. It will be known as Rick Hubbard Field at Blum Stadium, athletic director Tom Pagley said. There will be a ceremony and a plaque presentation.

“He was a Panther; he was Dwyer,” Pagley said. “It was a given that something would be done for him.”

Hubbard started working at Dwyer in 1997 and was the athletic director from 2004 until his passing last December.

Also, on a separate note, Dwyer will be debuting a new helmet this season:
