High school football Week 1 Platinum

By Jason Lieser

Admittedly, this will be an incomplete list. There is no way to catch every single game and newspapers don’t record thorough defensive stats or linemen grades, but here are some of the performances that stood out from games I saw either in person and on DVD, read about in the paper or based on information I got from school staff.

Travis Bell (26) and Greg Dent (5) both made the list. (Bruce Bennett/The Post)

If a deserving player is omitted, it is not intentional. Feel free to add your own additions to this list in the comments portion.

WR/DB Greg Dent, Glades Central: 2 rec., 77 yards, TD. Had an interception and 4 tackles. (21-7 win at Dwyer)

LB Robert Way, Glades Central: 14 tackles, including 3 sacks.

LB/RB Will Powers, Jupiter Christian: 15 tackles and a game-sealing fumble recovery. Rushed 17 times for 101 yards and a TD. (21-14 win over American Heritage)

WR Terrell Williams, Boca Raton: 5 rec., 169 yards and a TD.

RB/LB Matt Elam, Dwyer: Rushed 11 times for 90 yards, including a 53-yard TD. Also had at least 7 tackles on defense.

RB Kelvin Taylor, Glades Day: Rushed 17 times for 136 yards and 3 TDs. Haven’t heard from anyone, but I’d have to assume OL Tony Kibler had a pretty good night, too. (42-6 win at Benjamin)

LB Jeff Luc, Treasure Coast: 12 tackles (2 for loss) and blocked a field goal.
