Three players await FHSAA suspensions

Three of the area’s best teams will miss a starter this week and possibly longer.

Atlantic OL Hugo Stubbs, Dwyer WR/LB Layton Haynes and Glades Central TE/DE Clive Walford were ejected from Friday night’s games. The Florida High School Athletic Association tends to be both subjective and strict in dealing out suspensions, but its bylaws mandate a minimum one-game suspension for any ejection. An FHSAA source confirmed Tuesday that all three players will sit for at least one game, though the review is not yet complete and schools have not been informed of penalties.

Haynes and Walford were ejected after exchanging shoves late in the fourth quarter of Glades Central’s 21-7 win at Dwyer. Stubbs was ejected for a similar infraction in the first quarter of Atlantic’s 13-6 loss at Pahokee.
