Waides Ashmon “great” after reported hospitalization

By Jason Lieser

Fort Pierce Westwood coach Waides Ashmon, who reportedly left Friday’s game against Treasure Coast after the third quarter and was hospitalized, was back at practice Monday morning.

Defensive coordinator James Monds told that Ashmon was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center after complaining of dizziness, but Ashmon declined to comment on the situation and did not clarify whether he had, in fact, gone to the hospital.

“I’m great,” he said Monday. “I’m in great physical health.”

Ashmon, 32, declined to give additional details or answer questions about what occurred Friday.

The Panthers (0-1) lost to Treasure Coast 19-14 at Lawnwood stadium in Fort Pierce. Fort Pierce Westwood is scheduled to play Centennial on Thursday.

Westwood coach Waides Ashmon was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center at the end of the third quarter after complaining of dizziness, according to Westwood defensive coordinator James Monds. A nursing supervisor at Lawnwood refused to update Ashmon’s condition after the game.
