Fort Pierce Westwood defensive back Jameson Wright commits to Wisconsin

By Jason Lieser

Wisconsin was the biggest program to offer Fort Pierce Westwood safety Jameson Wright a scholarship, and the Badgers secured a commitment on his visit this weekend.

Wright (6-2, 180, 4.5 in the 40-yard dash) went attended Wisconsin’s game against Fresno State today and said he was sold on several aspects of the program during his time in Madison, Wisc.

“It feels like a family,” he said. “I fit in here. The atmosphere is nice and the academics, really, were key.

“I met the players and the coaches and the defensive backs coach. The other DBs on the team told me they would treat me like family up here.”

Wright was also considering offers from Florida International, Marshall, Rutgers and South Florida. His commitment is nonbinding until he signs a letter of intent, but Wright said he was glad to get his choice out of the way.

“This is my final decision,” he said.

He said Saturday night he would not take any additional visits, but Sunday morning said he changed his mind and will travel to other campuses.

Wright is primarily a safety for the Panthers, but can also play cornerback.
