Martin County remains No. 1 in volleyball Top 10

By Post Staff

There was just one change this week and that was Spanish River moving up to No. 6 from No. 7. Some of the teams’ records may look wacky (a few losses) but those were the teams that played in that big tournament in Orlando over the weekend. The competition there is a lot tougher than what the teams in the Top 10 have seen so far so those losses didn’t weigh heavily in the rankings. Spanish River moved up because the Sharks beat Timber Creek, last season’s 6A state champ in pool play. Timber Creek isn’t the same team as last year, but that’s still a pretty big deal to beat them.

As for this week, Royal Palm Beach at Wellington on Thursday is going to be well worth the price of admission. This one is going to get heated. Also, Martin County hosts St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday, which also should be intense.

1. Martin County (6-1)
Fell to perennial state champ Tampa Plant

2. Jensen Beach (6-1)
Lost to Orlando Bishop Moore

3. Lake Worth Christian (3-0)
Beat Donna Klein, faces Grandview Prep

4. Royal Palm Beach (3-3)
Won copper bracket in Orlando

5. Jupiter (4-0)
Brittany Lear continues to lead Warriors

6. Spanish River (4-3)
Beat 6A state champ Timber Creek

7. Park Vista (3-3)
Got to bracket final in Orlando, forfeited game

8. West Boca Raton (4-3)
Travels to Boca Raton Tuesday

9. Wellington (3-0)
Big games this week vs. RP Beach, Spanish River

10. Palm Beach Central (3-0)
Faces Seminole Ridge, Boca Raton

Also on my radar is John Carroll. I’ll be keeping an eye on them in the coming weeks.
