Jupiter volleyball looking forward to next big tournament

By Post Staff

The fourth-ranked Jupiter volleyball team (7-3) had a strong weekend at the East Coast Challenge, finishing as the runner-up in the Silver Bracket to Cardinal Gibbons. Most teams of the area’s best teams had already played in at least one tournament by last weekend, but this was the first for the Warriors.

“We’re still trying to figure some things out,” Jupiter coach Blane Betz said. “This was a good learning process. The first five matches we didn’t have a lot of competition so this was our first real test.”

Betz liked what he saw from the Warriors’ defense but saw room for improvement with blocking and hitting. And while team chemistry is strong, Betz said the tournament got his players into a good rhythm with each other.

Jupiter doesn’t have a ton of intriguing matches on its schedule so these big tournaments are where the Warriors’ season is made. Next up for Jupiter is the Jacksonville Bolles Invitational Oct. 2 and 3.
