Local coaches react to Ron Ream’s resignation

By Jason Lieser

I don’t have a lot of time to broaden this out with a lot of text, so if you want the quick version of the local response to Benjamin football coach Ron Ream’s resignation, here are some thoughts from area coaches:

Jupiter coach Charlie Persson:

“There’s not a better class individual in America than Ron Ream. He’s been a pillar in the community and great for Benjamin High.”

King’s Academy coach Craig Dobson:

“I’m shocked. Ron has been such a tutor to many of us. Ron’s one of the reasons I’m down here coaching football.”

Palm Beach Gardens coach Chris Davis:

“He’s a legend around here. To see something like that happen, you sympathize. He’s helped so many kids throughout the years. I’ve probably gotten to know him more than any of the head coaches around here. He’s really been somewhat of a mentor. He’s got a job here any time he wants it.”

Dwyer coach Jack Daniels:

“That’s a huge loss for Benjamin. He’s a great guy.”

Dwyer defensive coordinator Bobby Sifrit (assistant under Ream from 1988 to ’96):

“He was definitely forced out. It’s tragic that this happened and I think it’s a mistake by Benjamin.

“He’s one of the best people I’ve ever been around in my life. If I had a son, if something happened to me, he’d be the one I’d want to raise my son.”
