Lane Kiffin: Arrested players not allowed near team

By Jason Lieser

Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin told the Knoxville News Sentinel he will not allow Nu’Keese Richardson, Janzen Jackson and Mike Edwards in team facilities or meetings after the three were charged with attempted armed robbery last week.

“No way would we ever, with something like this possibly having happened, no way would we ever let one of those guys ever play for us,” Kiffin said. “We don’t let them come to the functions over here, meetings or practice or anything.

“They’re not part of any of our activities until we get more information in. There’s no way I would ever let them be around our team and be around our functions with what’s been said that may have happened.”

The three players were not allowed to travel with the Volunteers for their game Saturday against Ole Miss. Tennessee lost 42-17.

Richardson, a former Pahokee star who graduated last year, is a freshman wide receiver at Tennessee. He has no arrests on his record in Florida.

Glades Central coach Jessie Hester, a former Florida State and NFL receiver, said last week he believes Richardson will be expelled from the university.
