Matt Elam sounds undecided on Florida

By Jason Lieser

It’s hard to gauge Dwyer senior Matt Elam’s commitment to Florida at this point. In fact, it doesn’t seem fitting to use the word commitment at all.

Elam is coming off his fourth official visit, a trip to Georgia, and sounds as undecided on his college plans as ever.

“I see a lot of opportunity there,” he said of Georgia. “It compares to Florida.”

And the commitment to the Gators?

“I’ve still got to think about it.”

After his official visit to Tennessee in October, Elam said reaffirmed his pledge to Florida and said he would not visit any other schools. He changed his mind.

His fifth and final official visit (the other two were West Virginia and Florida State), will be to Gainesville for the Seminoles game on Nov. 28, and he said he will firm up his plans after that trip.

Elam (6-0, 210, No. 1 on The Big Board) plans to graduate early and enroll in school in January.

He committed to the Gators last October as a junior, but has since wavered on that promise.
