2009-10 Boys Basketball Fab Five

By Jason Lieser

Last year’s boys basketball season saw four teams reach the state final four and the 2009-10 campaign could be equally exciting.

Here is the Post‘s pre-season Fab Five team:

Clive Walford, Glades Central, Sr., F/C, 6-6, 222 (Meghan McCarthy/The Post)

Clive Walford, Glades Central, Sr., F/C, 6-6, 222

Combination of muscle and quickness makes “The Beast” nearly impossible to cover. As a junior, averaged 12.8 points and 15.5 rebounds per game. Committed to Miami on a football scholarship.

Jacoby Brissett, Dwyer, Jr., G/F, 6-5, 225 (Allen Eyestone/The Post)

Brissett can play any position on the court and should transition easily from complimentary piece to star. Averaged 11.2 points, 7.1 rebounds per game last season.

Ismaila Dauda, Grandview Prep, Jr., F/C, 6-9, 220 (Taylor Jones/The Post)

Dauda, a Nigerian-born inside-outside threat, already has committed to the University of Miami. Transferred from Miami-Choice Prep this year.

Jean Prophete, Summit Christian, Jr., C, 6-5, 270 (Meghan McCarthy/The Post)

Jean Prophete, Summit Christian, Jr., C, 6-5, 270 (Meghan McCarthy/The Post)

Prophete is an old-school center who uses the hook shot better than any area player and is a proficient shot-blocker. He averaged 19.1 points and 13.1 rebounds per game while shooting 58 percent last season.

Kevin Paxson, Jupiter, Sr., G, 5-10, 165 (Allen Eyestone/The Post)

Kevin Paxson, Jupiter, Sr., G, 5-10, 165 (Allen Eyestone/The Post)

Fast and fearless, Paxson shoots and drives with authority. He was ninth in scoring last season (18.8 points per game) and was a good perimeter defender.

You guys are welcome to debate these selections, but please refrain from personal attacks on any players. Thanks.
