Treasure Coast LB Jeff Luc down to seven finalists

By Jason Lieser

Most seniors are sweating their impending college decision by now, especially if they plan to enroll in January, but Treasure Coast linebacker Jeff Luc is in no hurry.

Luc, one of the top-recruited prospects in the nation, is on track to graduate high school in a matter of weeks, but said he will not decide on a college until late December.

“I’m not worried about it right now,” he said. “It’s going to be a difficult decision, but I’ve still got high school ball to worry about.”

Luc (6-1, 240, 4.56 in the 40-yard dash, No. 2 on The Big Board) and the Titans rallied from a 17-0 deficit in the third quarter to beat Boca Raton on Friday, advancing to this week’s regional final against Apopka.

While Luc has maintained his focus on the high school season, he has narrowed his field of college choices to seven: Florida, Florida State, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State.

The interesting omission from that list is Miami, which was viewed as a logical contender for Luc early in the recruiting process. Luc grew up in Miami before moving to Port St. Lucie.

He has made official visits to Southern Cal, Tennessee and Georgia, and took unofficial trips to the other schools. At this point, Luc does not have any additional visits planned.
