James Louis makes amends with Florida, but he’s still a Buckeye

By Jason Lieser

Atlantic wide receiver James Louis said he talks Florida coaches Urban Meyer and Billy Gonzales all the time. They’re always checking up on him and it makes him feel like family, Louis said.

There’s just one hang-up:

“I’m Ohio State all the way,” said Louis, who hosted Buckeyes coaches Jim Tressel and Darrell Hazell at his home Monday.

Louis, who committed to the Gators in July before switching to Ohio State a few weeks later, said he resolved his dispute with Florida.

The Gators irked Louis when they told him to hold off on his commitment, likely while they waited to see which other receivers they could get. Instead of waiting for Florida to accept his commitment, Louis changed course and went with Ohio State.

“We talked about that,” Louis said. “It was just all confusion. I’m on good terms with them now, but it’s not an option.”

Miami and North Carolina continue to chase Louis (6-0, 185, 4.45 in the 40-yard dash, No. 6 on The Big Board) as well.

“It’s the same old teams,” Louis said. “That’s their job, to get after who they think will be successful in their program, but as of now, I’m still a Buckeye.”

Louis caught 39 passes this year for 650 yards and nine touchdowns, and played solidly at cornerback for the Eagles.
