American Heritage’s Darius Millines “strictly West Virginia”

By Jason Lieser

Of West Virginia’s five early commitments from this area, American Heritage quarterback Darius Millines was the only one who spoke openly about considering other schools.

Now there are no other schools, he said.

“It’s strictly West Virginia now,” he said. “I don’t see me de-committing any time soon. I’m sticking with West Virginia.”

The biggest threat to West Virginia landing Millines, who likely will play wide receiver in college, has been Wake Forest. Millines was also interested in Florida, North Carolina and Rutgers.

His only official campus visit was to West Virginia, but he made unofficial trips to Wake Forest and Rutgers.

Millines (6-0, 175, No. 13 on The Big Board) said the more he thought about the Mountaineers, the more he liked the prospect of getting on the field quickly.

“There’s more opportunity for me to get early playing time and that’s what’s best for me,” he said. “I really don’t want to red shirt. I want to go somewhere where I have a better chance of playing. West Virginia is real shallow at receiver right now.”

During the regular season, Millines threw for 466 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 605 yards and eight touchdowns. He has four touchdown passes and two runs in the playoffs.
