Colleges undeterred by Quadarias Mireles’ broken ankle

By Jason Lieser

Atlantic senior Quadarias Mireles turned a lot of heads when he transferred from John I. Leonard and moved from quarterback to wide receiver.

His performance has been strong enough to keep schools interested while a broken bone in his left ankle heals. Mireles, who suffered the injury last month against Palm Beach Central, still has big programs like Ole Miss, Michigan State and Tennessee trying to land his signature.

Mireles (5-10, 172, 4.4 in the 40-yard dash) committed to Ole Miss during the season and Atlantic coach Andre Thaddies said the school has not pulled its offer.

“They’ve spoken with his doctor and their trainers and they’re good with it,” Thaddies said.

Mireles finished the year with 26 catches for 426 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and started in the secondary for the Eagles.
