Jupiter Christian QB Marshyl Rothman commits to Cornell

By Jason Lieser

A grueling recruiting process appears to have ended for Jupiter Christian quarterback Marshyl Rothman, who committed to Cornell this morning.

Rothman had been in talks with several schools and had an offer from Air Force, but said he fell in love on his Cornell campus visit this weekend.

“It feels good knowing that Cornell is the place I’m going to be for the next four years,” Rothman said. “The process was bad at times, but I’m glad I found a place that fits.

He had an Air Force visit scheduled for late January, but said he no longer plans on making that trip.

Cornell, an Ivy League school, does not offer athletic scholarships but guarantees admission for qualifying football prospects.

Rothman was all-area and all-state last season and helped lead Jupiter Christian to state championships in 2007 and ’08.
