King’s Academy’s Christina Alessi, Brooke Garmon nearing milestones

By Post Staff

Christina Alessi and Brooke Garmon are getting very close to reaching milestones and it’s not even halfway through basketball season yet.

Garmon has 1,427 career points, just 15 shy of breaking the school record of 1,442, which is held by Tara Russ who went on to play at the University of West Florida. She is also on track to break Janet Meckstroth’s points per game mark of 20.21, which was set in 1977-78. Meckstroth is Alessi’s mom and was a member of Florida’s first All-State team and one of the first girls in Florida to receive a full college basketball scholarship.

Alessi, who is committed to play volleyball for Palm Beach Atlantic, has already passed the 1,000 career rebound mark and has 79 points to go to reach 1,000 for her career.
