Glades Central’s top recruit, Travis Bell, commits to Marshall

By Jason Lieser

In less than one month on the job, Marshall head coach Doc Holliday already has his hands on an elite recruit.

Glades Central safety Travis Bell, a player coveted by many BCS schools, said today he has de-committed from West Virginia and now will attend Marshall.

Bell (6-2, 186, No. 7 on The Big Board) said the reason for his change was the comfort he felt with Holliday and assistant coach Jajuan Seider. Holliday and Seider recruited Bell to West Virginia before leaving the Mountaineers in December.

Seider played for Glades Central before graduating in 1995.

Bell also said teammate Antwon Chisholm and Pahokee receiver Fred Pickett committed to Marshall this weekend. Pickett’s father denied media reports of his son switching from West Virginia.

Bell had 10 interceptions and 62 tackles as a senior for the Raiders.

All commitments are non-binding. No player is locked into a school until he signs a national letter of intent. The first day seniors can sign is Feb. 3, national signing day.
