Matt Elam, Jeff Luc to be named Parade All-Americans

By Jason Lieser

A spokesperson for Parade said the magazine will name Dwyer’s Matt Elam and Treasure Coast’s Jeff Luc to its all-American team.

Both players starred at linebacker in 2009 and led their teams into the playoffs. Elam played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and Luc played at Under Armour All-America Game.

As a running back, Elam rushed for 1,883 yards and 27 touchdowns on just 178 attempts in 15 games. He also had 61 tackles, including 15 for negative yards, during the regular season.

Dwyer went 14-1 and won the Class 4A state championship.

Elam (6-0, 210, No. 1 on The Big Board) won his second straight Lou Groza Award as Palm Beach County’s best player and was named Mr. Football for the state.

He is an early enrollee at the University of Florida.

Luc (6-1, 240, No. 2 on The Big Board) enrolled early at Florida State after leading the Titans to a regional championship in Class 6A.

He had 103 tackles this season, 14 of which were for negative yardage.

Players are selected by coaches, journalists, scouts, and recruiters. The entire team will be published in Sunday’s issue.
