Royal Palm Beach accepting Haiti donations at Friday’s game vs. Jupiter

By Jason Lieser

Royal Palm Beach basketball coach Drew Quinn is asking students and fans to bring non-perishable food items to Friday’s game as part of the school’s donation to the Haiti relief effort.

The Wildcats host No. 4 Jupiter at 7:30 p.m.

Royal Palm Beach has a large container it is trying to fill in its “Pack the Pod” campaign.

Quinn wanted to tie the supply drive to his team because senior forward Michael Pinard has family in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Pinard moved from Haiti to the U.S. a year ago.

“With Mike being involved, it hits home pretty hard for him,” Quinn said. “Pretty much everybody’s ok, but he didn’t hear from them for quite a bit of time.

“He’s helping out quite a bit with it trying to get people around the school to donate things.”

Any questions about the donations should be directed to Royal Palm Beach High School at (561) 753-4000.
