Terrell Williams does not intend to sign next week

By Jason Lieser

Even though he claims some impressive scholarship offers, Boca Raton wide receiver Terrell Williams said he will not sign next week.

Williams has not gone on any visits and still needs to improve his test scores.

“I’m waiting until after signing day to make my decision,” he said. “Maybe more schools will come to me if they can’t get the people they wanted. Better schools will probably come.”

Williams (5-9, 165, 4.4, No. 37 on The Big Board) said he had an offer from Mississippi State early in the year and it is still open for him. He also said he has offers from Texas Tech, Marshall and Western Michigan.

He seems to have ruled out Mississippi State, or vice versa.

“They don’t really call me no more, so whatever,” he said.

Williams said his Texas Tech offer developed when the Red Raiders hired Neal Brown as their offensive coordinator. Brown had recruited Williams when he was at Troy.

Williams also said quarterback Eddie Sullivan, a Marshall commit, has been trying to persuade him to sign with the Thundering Herd.

“I’m just trying decide which school is the best for me,” Williams said. “Bryce Brown didn’t sign until like three months later, so it doesn’t really matter.”

Brown, one of the nation’s elite recruits a year ago, signed with Tennessee on March 16.

Williams caught 28 passes for 677 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior for the Bobcats. In the playoffs, he added another eight catches for 171 yards and two scores.
