Cedrick Wilcox, Justin Hughes, Patt Harris commit

By Jason Lieser

Florida State and Treasure Coast seem to have solidified an impressive partnership.

The Seminoles landed Titans star linebacker Jeff Luc last month and he already is enrolled. Treasure Coast assistant coach Aaron Sheppard said FSU also picked up Titans running back Cedrick Wilcox, who did not appear to have many other offers.

Sheppard also said WR/DB Patt Harris (6-1, 170, No. 30 on The Big Board) committed to Bethune-Cookman and WR/DB Justin Hughes (5-9, 165) committed to Georgia State.

Hughes is Georgia State’s third area commitment from this year’s class. American Heritage cornerback Isaiah Howard and Port St. Lucie’s Albert Wilson also pledged to the program, which will play its first season this fall.

Wilcox (5-11, 200) ran for 330 yards and three touchdowns on 50 carries during the 2009 season. He projects as a fullback at the collegiate level.

“He didn’t want to play fullback, but he realized it was going to happen,” Sheppard said. “With Florida State, it was the chance to go there with Jeff and the prestige of the program and he went with it.”

All commitments are non-binding. No player is locked into a school until he signs a national letter of intent. The first day seniors can sign is Feb. 3, national signing day.
