Doral Willis to Alabama State looking likely

By Jason Lieser

Given that Pahokee offensive lineman Doral Willis has yet to receive his letter of intent from Minnesota, it appears that door has closed.

“You would think so,” Blue Devils coach Blaze Thompson said.

Willis committed to Minnesota prior to the season, but the Golden Gophers wanted him to gray-shirt. Communication between Minnesota and Pahokee seems to have dried up recently.

That makes Willis increasingly likely to sign with Alabama State, which has been making a late push to get him. The Hornets signed Blue Devils lineman Jaquan Bentley last year and have a good shot at Willis tomorrow.

Willis (6-1, 300, No. 25 on The Big Board) was an all-area selection each of the past two seasons and was one of Pahokee’s best players during that span.

All commitments are non-binding. No player is locked into a school until he signs a national letter of intent. The first day seniors can sign is tomorrow, national signing day.
