One-run losses plague Dwyer

By Post Staff

Dwyer (7-8) has been struggling this season but what’s made it worse is that of the Panthers’ eight losses, six have been by one run. The latest was a 2-1 loss to Royal Palm Beach in eight innings on Tuesday in the Lake Worth Spring Break Tournament, which was the third one-run loss in a row.

Update: Dwyer beat Cardinal Newman in the Panthers’ second game Tuesday 10-0.

“As far as the one-run losses, we have to do better all the way around executing so we can come up with those wins,” Dwyer coach Frank Torre said. “It’s tough. It’s been kind of something different every time. You start losing those games and it seems like you just find a new way to lose them, whether it’s throwing a wild pitch to let the guys get into scoring position or whatever, the other teams are getting the job done so it’s tough.”
