Boca Raton’s Colby Burdette and Marcelo Castillo up for state soccer honors

Following the Bobcats’ Class 6A state title, Boca Raton junior forward Colby Burdette has been nominated for Florida’s Boys Soccer Player of the Year and coach Marcelo Castillo is up for the Florida Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.

Along with Burdette, who had 21 goals and 10 assists this season, Melbourne senior forward Ryan Price, Jacksonville Stanton senior goalkeeper Ryan O’Farrell, Fort Myers Bishop Verot senior forward Andrew Palumbo, and Tampa Prep senior midfielder/forward Wes Sever are in the running for player of the Year.

Other coach of the year nominees are Doug Smith of Tampa Prep, Tom McGlinn of Fort Myers Bishop Verot, Oscar Ubillus of New Port Richey Mitchell, and Jerry McCabe of Melbourne.
