Jupiter Christian’s Will Powers headed to Salisbury prep school

By Jason Lieser

Will Powers, one of the area’s most decorated high school football players over the past three years, will delay his entry into college football.

In a press release Wednesday, Jupiter Christian School announced that Powers will go to Salisbury (Conn.) School this fall. He will make his decision official in a ceremony at the school tomorrow.

Playing football at Salisbury for a season will not affect his collegiate eligibility and could result in a wider range of opportunities a year from now.

Powers (5-8, 190) played linebacker and running back for the Eagles and was a four-year starter. He helped the team win Class 1B state championships in 2007 and ’08.

Last year, he rushed for 983 yards, had 240 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns. On defense, he had 134 tackles, including 14 for loss.

He was selected all-area in football and lacrosse multiple seasons.

Powers’ 4.34 grade point average ranks No. 2 in his class and he is a member of the National Honors Society.
