Dwyer’s Curt Maggitt is area’s fourth all-America selection

By Jason Lieser

Dwyer defensive end Curt Maggitt has an invitation to the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game, making him the second Panthers player picked.

Maggitt has not yet committed to the game and could be waiting for invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Teammate Nick O’Leary has invitations to both games, but has not decided which one he wants to play.

This is the second straight year Dwyer will have two all-America players. Matt Elam and Gerald Christian, both currently at the University of Florida, played in the U.S. Army game in January.

Fort Pierce Central defensive end Giorgio Newberry and Treasure Coast defensive back Keelin Smith already are committed to play in the Under Armour game.

Maggitt (6-4, 210, No. 1 on The Big Board) has not practiced this spring but said he is fully recovered from a torn left labrum. He led Dwyer with 13 sacks last season and has many BCS scholarship offers.
