Report: Former Lake Worth QB Star Jackson leaving Alabama

Alabama quarterback Star Jackson, a former Lake Worth standout, is leaving the program, the Mobile Press-Register reported.

“We hate to see any player leave the program, but quarterback’s kind of unique position where one guy can play, and we have a lot of competition there right now,” Alabama coach Nick Saban told the newspaper.

Jackson completed 13 of 18 passes for 116 yards in two games last year. He would have been a sophomore this fall.

Jackson red-shirted his first season at Alabama, meaning he would have to sacrifice a year of his eligibility in order to play in Division I-A again.

Jackson finished the spring practice session third on Alabama’s depth chart, behind Greg McElroy and A.J. McCarron.
