Jupiter pitcher Mark Donham selected in the 33rd round by the Boston Red Sox

By Post Staff

The Boston Red Sox selected Jupiter right-handed pitcher Mark Donham in the 33rd round (1013 overall) of the Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday. Donham had not signed with or committed to a college because he wanted to see what happened with the draft first.

Donham said he is leaning toward signing with the Red Sox right now but considers going to college a strong possibility.

“I had some good offers on the table,” Donham said. “I had a 50 percent offer from Samford in Alabama and I’m still looking at that because I really liked it up there.”

Donham had tendonitis in his shoulder that held him back this season but still had a 4-2 record with a 3.03 ERA. He started six games and pitched one complete game. He recorded 37 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched and walked 16.
