Suncoast’s Timotheus Granger draws interest from Pitt, others

By Jeff Greer

The pursuit of Suncoast’s Timotheus Granger heated up this summer.

At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Granger, a versatile defensive player who can play defensive end or outside linebacker, has drawn some BCS interest. With its need for depth at defensive end, Pitt recently joined the chase for Granger, checking in with him on a regular basis. Granger said he likes Pitt, too, but the Panthers haven’t extended a scholarship offer yet.

FIU, the only FBS-level school to offer Granger a scholarship so far, wants Granger at defensive end, too. But Granger said other schools like him at outside linebacker. Bowling Green, FAU, Rutgers, UCF and USF have all expressed interest in his services coming off the edge, he said.

Like many recruits this time of year, Granger wants to take his time and see what offers might trickle in. And as of right now, Granger’s keeping his options open.
