Atlantic’s Luther Maddy commits to Marshall

By Jeff Greer

New Atlantic coach Chris Bean loves the versatility that senior defensive lineman Luther Maddy brings to the Eagles. At 6-foot-2, 280 pounds, he can clog holes at defensive tackle or get after the quarterback at defensive end.

Marshall University hopes Maddy can do the same for the Thundering Herd. Maddy said he committed to Marshall on Tuesday night.

Maddy is the latest of a long line of area recruits that first-year Marshall coach Doc Holliday has signed. Holliday, who was an assistant at West Virginia, NC State and Florida before taking the Marshall job, has coached countless area stars over the years, including Okeechobee’s Reggie Rembert and Boca Raton’s Khori Ivy, who were both standouts at West Virginia.
