National polls update: Mixed reviews for Dwyer, Glades Central

By Matt Porter

The first area top 10 of 2010 is out, and that is the only poll that matters to most of you. If you care about national rankings, here’s how local teams fared.

Though only one of the teams played, four major polls had Dwyer and Glades Central going in different directions.

Dwyer went from 14th to 11th in Rivals’ Top 100 rankings. Glades Central went from 82nd to 71st.

On ESPN Rise’s Fab 50 list, Dwyer improved three spots, from No. 14 to No. 11. Glades Central was not ranked.

Glades Central is 19th in USA Today’s Top 25, up from 21st. Dwyer is not ranked.

Glades Central dropped out of the Massey rankings. The Raiders were 21st before beating Dallas-Skyline, 6-0. Dwyer is not ranked.

Dwyer dropped in the National Prep Poll. The Panthers were 6th, but are 16th in this week’s list. Glades Central is not ranked.

The Associated Press Florida class rankings, in which both Jeff and I vote, are on hiatus this week and will return Monday.

The Post’s football preview section, which comes out Thursday, will have our full Top 25, district rankings and top 25 recruits, plus the Palm Beach Post Super 11, preview capsules for every team and much more.
