How they’re ranked: National and statewide all-classification polls update for week of Oct. 30

By Matt Porter

Taking a spin around the polls to see how area teams fared . . .

National: Dwyer holds at No. 17 in the ESPN Rise Fab 50 rankings. In the RivalsHigh Top 100, a move up by Centennial (Corona, Calif.) pushed Dwyer and a couple other teams down. The Panthers drop from 14th to 15th in this week’s poll. Dwyer is not ranked in the USA Today Top 25. Glades Central is not ranked in any national polls.

Statewide: Despite blowing out another opponent — and receiving a first-place vote — Dwyer slipped from 5th to 6th in the Beef O’Brady’s All-Classification poll. Glades Central dropped from 21st to 22nd. Fort Pierce Westwood and Fort Pierce Central are knocking on the door, but neither cracked the top 25.

In the Class 6A ranks of the Associated Press statewide poll, Seminole Ridge received one more vote than Park Vista, despite losing to the Cobras last week. In Class 4A, Dwyer received two first-place votes, but fell short of top-ranked Armwood. Fort Pierce Central moved up one spot, from 6th to 5th. In Class 3A, Fort Pierce Westwoodholds at No. 5, and in Class 2A, Glades Central stays at No. 5. In Class 1A, King’s Academy re-enters the discussion at No. 5, while American Heritage, despite demolishing King’s in their meeting (and receiving one first-place vote), is unranked. In Class 1B, Jupiter Christian (one first-place vote) holds at No. 3.
