Dwyer quarterback Jacoby Brissett joins elite company

By Matt Porter

Jacoby Brissett has earned a spot among the top 100 high school players in the nation, according to Yahoo!’s latest Rivals100 prospect rankings.

Brissett checks in at No. 98 overall, the ninth-highest among quarterbacks. Among Florida players, Brissett ranks 24th.

Among area prospects, only Dwyer teammate Nick O’Leary (No. 21 overall, No. 7 in Fla., No. 1 tight end) and Glades Central wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (No. 80 overall, No. 21 in Fla., No. 9 WR) are ranked higher.

From Rivals:

Rivals.com National Analyst Mike Farrell has always been a huge fan of Brissett.

“With Brissett, his upside is impressive and he’s such a great athlete that he could be a poor man’s Terrelle Pryor or Cameron Newton in the right offense,” said Farrell of the uncommitted signal-caller. “He’s a pass-first guy but he can make things happen when the pocket breaks down and he is a threat to run. Whatever team gets him will be getting someone who has barely scratched the surface of his potential.”

Brissett has not chosen a school and is considering several offers, including Florida State, LSU, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Notre Dame. He visited LSU this weekend with teammates O’Leary and Curt Maggitt.
