Palm Beach Central star Angelo Jean-Louis returns from suspension

By Matt Porter

Angelo Jean-Louis, a junior and one of the top wide receivers in the area, was suspended by the FHSAA for two games after an incident in Palm Beach Central’s 21-14 win over District 8-6A rival Boca Raton on Oct. 22.

Late in the fourth quarter of that game, Palm Beach Central recovered its onside kick. According to officials, Jean-Louis left the sideline and threw a punch during the scrum.

The FHSAA suspended Jean-Louis for six games, but after Palm Beach Central’s appeal, the suspension was reduced to two games.

“I thought it was going to be reduced to no games,” Palm Beach Central coach Rod Harris said.

Harris said a video sent to the FHSAA “clearly” shows Jean-Louis did not leave the sideline, because he was already on the field as a part of the kickoff team.

“When the ref signals [a Palm Beach Central] first down, Angelo’s signaling also,” Harris said.

According to Harris, the video also shows that no punch was thrown.

“I didn’t see anything but both sides jawing at each other, that was it,” Harris said.

The Broncos (4-5, 1-3 District 8-6A) have had a tough time in a tough district, but they can get to .500 with a win this week over Spanish River.

“We’ve missed Angelo the last two weeks. He’s our gamebreaker. Angelo and [quarterback Ryan] McGovern haven’t played together since Week 5 against Seminole Ridge.

“We were predicted to be last in our district. We beat Boca, and we played some teams really tough. But our district is second to no one. Anyone who watches football realizes that.”
