Miami Hurricanes’ firing of Randy Shannon already affecting recruiting

By Matt Porter

Randy Shannon’s dismissal on Saturday night as the University of Miami’s coach is already having a negative effect on the team’s recruiting.

Albert Jean-Louis, a four-star cornerback from Brockton, Mass., and one of seven high school players verbally committed to the Hurricanes, is wavering on his decision.

“I wouldn’t say I’m solid [to Miami] right now,” Louis-Jean told ESPN.com. “[Shannon] was a huge factor. When I went down there, he told me they would take care of me. Whoever they bring in is going to tell me whatever I want to hear. It’s up in the air right now.”

Tampa defensive lineman Anthony Chickillo and Vero Beach offensive lineman Marcus Jackson, both ranked among ESPN.com’s Top 150 players, are also less than certain they will make good on their verbal commitments to UM. Miami Northwestern quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, another UM commitment, was rumored to be wavering before Shannon was fired.
