Orlando-Dr. Phillips WR Chris Gallon could miss the rest of the postseason

By Jeff Greer

Orlando-Dr. Phillips may be without its star receiver Chris Gallon for the rest of the postseason, the Orlando Sentinel reports. That means he would miss his team’s regional final against Seminole Ridge, although nothing has been decided — yet.

Gallon was Dr. Phillips’ leading receiver this season until uber-athlete Demetrius Hart passed him last week. Gallon missed that game, which was a 45-0 Dr. Phillips win over Oak Ridge in the regional semifinals. He has 27 catches for 482 yards and seven touchdowns.

At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Gallon runs a 4.5 40 and possesses the rare combination of size and breakaway acceleration. (Watch some video of him here.)

He would easily be one of the best receivers Seminole Ridge has seen this year, if not the best. So, his sitting out would be a plus for the Hawks, who will need to focus all of their energy on stopping Hart, who has 46 touchdowns this year.

“They are loaded with Division I talent, so we have to play our best game,” Seminole Ridge coach Dickmann told me on Sunday night.

Prior to his senior year, Gallon transferred to Dr. Phillips from Oviedo. The Florida High School Athletic Association originally concluded that the transfer — and Gallon’s residency — cleared all the necessary hurdles.

But court documents in a separate hazing case listed Gallon as a Seminole County resident, prompting a new FHSAA investigation into Gallon’s transfer, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The senior receiver is one of five Dr. Phillips players facing misdemeanor charges for hazing.

We’ll monitor reports coming out of Orlando as the week progresses.
