DeSoto County High basketball player throws referee to floor (video)

By Jeff Greer

Video of a DeSoto County High School basketball player throwing a referee to the ground has officially gone viral.

Here’s the YouTube video. The incident occurs around the 1:23 mark.

Mason Holland, a DeSoto County player, pushed an opposing player from Port Charlotte as they ran up the court in a game Monday night. He was assessed a technical foul. He then pushed the referee before bull-rushing him, picking him up and body-slamming him to the court.

Holland was ejected, and, according to a report from The News-Press in Fort Myers, the game was stopped after the incident, giving the win to Port Charlotte by forfeit.

DeSoto County Athletic Director Jarrett Zolkos told The Big Lead that he’d “never seen anything like this.” Neither have I. Serious ramifications should be on the way …
