West Boca’s Mauro Bondi to play in the NUC All-World Gridiron Classic

By Jeff Greer

West Boca Raton kicker/punter Mauro Bondi has committed to play in the National Underclassmen All-World Gridiron Classic in Charleston, S.C., on Dec. 31.

The game will be played at Johnson Hagood Stadium, the home field for The Citadel. The teams will practice all week on The Citadel campus before playing on Friday night the 31st.

Bondi (6-1, 190, No. 54 on the Recruiting Big Board) is one of the 10 (as of Dec. 23) Floridians who will play in the all-star game. The other Floridians are Sebring’s Devin Clarke, Pensacola-Catholic lineman James Elliott, Chaminade-Madonna’s Curt Evans, Fort Lauderdale-University’s Devin Gaulden, Florida Air Academy athlete JJ Keels, Jacksonville-Raines’ George Maxey and Orlando-Jones’ Clim Robbins. Cocoa running back Chevelle Buie (Rutgers commit) and Wake Forest-bound Allen Ramsey from Fort Lauderdale-Dillard are playing, too.

There will be three other kickers in the game — Boston College commit Alex Howell, from Florence, S.C.; Knoxville’s Spencer Roth; and Australia native Steve Rowell.

Bondi recently earned Palm Beach Post Second Team All-Area honors.
