St. Andrew’s quarterback Cameron Crage commits to Dartmouth

By Matt Porter

Eric Kresser loves St. Andrew’s senior quarterback Cameron Crage, and he’s convinced Dartmouth is going to feel the same way.

“They’ve been following him since last summer. He had a bunch of Ivy League [schools] chasing him around,” said Kresser, Crage’s personal quarterback coach. “He went to Dartmouth camp over the summer and they fell in love with him.”

After a visit from head coach Buddy Teevens, Crage verbally committed to Dartmouth last week.

In his senior season, Crage completed 115 of 202 passes (56.9 percent) for 1250 yards, ranking him fifth among small-school quarterbacks. He threw 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. The Scots finished 6-3.

Kresser, who also trains Jupiter’s Tyler Cameron, Dwyer’s Bobby Puyol and Boca Raton’s Kevin Anderson, said playing at a small school like St. Andrew’s meant Crage was going to go unnoticed by big colleges.

“A lot of these guys from smaller schools, if they’re not putting up crazy numbers, they get lost in the mix,” Kresser said. “In my opinion, he’s got all the tools to go as far as he wants to go. He’s just got to get four to five good years of college experience.”

Kresser, who played for Steve Spurrier at Florida and later spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, said Crage has everything he needs to make it at the next level.

“He’s 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, a smart kid, great feet, runs about a 4.7 [in the 40-yard dash] and he’s got a great arm,” he said. “He’s got just as good an arm as I’ve got.”
